About Plateau
“I used to do it easily! Why can’t I now?”
Not a single technique acquisition or learning process proceeds smoothly and evenly.
Leaps of progress often occur with halts, pauses even temporary setbacks.
Such a period of stagnation is called plateau.
? All you need to know about plateau can be presented in a short sentence. Are you ready?
PLATEAU IS A NORMAL THING.
Plateau is a natural and unavoidable stage in any continuing activity.
If you’ve reached the plateau, I’ve got two pieces of excellent news for you.
First: it takes time to reach the plateau, which is why I offer my congratulations.
By this moment you have put in a great deal of regular and long training and made a certain progress.
Second: plateau is a temporary phenomenon.
It’s always followed by a leap in development.
With reference to a specific pole dance element we can say that plateau always precedes a new leap in automation of performance.
What should be done when plateau arrives:
1. Nothing. Continue to train quietly. After all, you know now that you must just wait till it ends OR
2. A short timeout, if you want it OR
3. For the time being switch to a new type of activity, diverse your training process: drill other tricks, try a different trend.
? Choose what your body wants most of all. At this time it is a faddy kid who must be treated with care and understanding.
How do you go through your plateau? Does it influence strongly your emotional condition?
Did you feel like sending all and sundry to hell? What stopped you? I (@kristina dumanskaya, salutations to all from a train in the middle of Bavaria) usually just go on training (not without hitting the pole every now and then, nothing new) since I’ve been through the cycles like “two steps forward – one step back” lots of times and know that all will be well ☺ )
